Nalda Murilova who danced with Anna Pavlova and who studied with Russia style of dance, first established the Murilova Ballet School in the 1940’s together with Grace Greenway, soloist with the Sadlers Wells Ballet they built the school.

In 1985 they asked Sandra McAuliffe to take over as Principal who had trained at the Murilova Ballet School for fourteen years, qualifying as a teacher with Distinction before entering the institute of Chorology in London. Here Sandra studied Benesh Notation as well as many other styles of dance. Having qualified as a Choreologist she joined the Northern Ballet as a soloist and resident Choreologist .She has worked with many distinguished teachers, performed all over the country, taught company classes and supervised many rehearsals.
